Mohammed bin Rashid visits ‘Concourse 3’ at Dubai International Airport

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inspected today, upon his return from Bahrain, the new Emirates’ Airbus A380 “Concourse 3” at Dubai International Airport (DXB). Sheikh Mohammed, accompanied by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, commenced his tour in the new building, set to open officially in January 2013, inspecting the new '"free market", stretching over more than 1200 square meters as well as the first and business class lounges, designed to meet internationally recognized standards. Accompanied also by Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Director of Dubai Ruler’s Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and Mohammed Juma Al Naboodah, Sheikh Mohammed then listened to a briefing by Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation Khalifa Al Zaffin on the new gigantic project which is 645 metres long and 90 metres wide and consists of ten levels, four of which are underground structure that comprises the Automated People Mover (APM). The new building which features four and five star hotels and shopping centre, serves airline companies through 40 counters and has the capacity of holding 19 million passengers annually. Once fully operating, Concourse 2 and Concourse 3 are expected to hold up to 43 million passengers annually. Sheikh Mohammed stopped by the counters of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairsat Terminal 3, where he was welcomed by passengers before taking Dubai Metro to Dubai Mall, expressing his pride at the Metro and stating that it turned out to be one of the unique landmark projects of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. At Burj Khalifa Station, Sheikh Mohammed took Dubai Mall Metro Link, a new air-conditioned walkway, which is developed by the Emaar Mall Group and costs about AED150 millions. While traveling through the walkway, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Managing Director of Emaar Properties Ahmad Al Matrooshi and Abdullah M. Bin Lahej, Director of Construction for Emaar Properties and CEO of Emaar Malls Group Nasser Rafi about the new air-conditioned bridge that provides access to the mall from the metro station through ten travelators. Sheikh Mohammed walked to Dubai Mall where he took coffee at one of the Mall’s cafés. He was greeted by the customers who took photos with him.
