UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum laid this evening a wreath at the General Jose de San Martin Memorial; the statue memorial of Argentine general, independence leader and national hero Jose de San Martin. He is considered the symbol of freedom and national hero and liberator of Argentine, Chile and Peru and the prime leader of their successful struggle for independence. He became the first president of Peru between 1821 and 1822. He shared in the liberation of his homeland, Argentina, in 1821 and the liberation of Chie in 1822. Accompanied by members by his delegation, Sheikh Mohammed was saluted by the guard of honor upon arrival at the monument located in Plaza San Martin in the Argentine capital city.
