Mohammed bin Rashid launches UAE Water Aid Foundation and Water Scarcity Solution Prize

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the launch of an international prize of USD 1 million for finding sustainable solutions for the global water scarcity problem through the use of solar energy to desalinate and purify water. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed also announced the establishment of UAE Water Aid Foundation to conduct research and studies to support the production of clean water by solar energy applications. This will provide new, economic, and innovative solutions for millions of people around the world who suffer from water scarcity and contaminated drinking water. Sheikh Mohammed made the above announcements during the reception held today at Zabeel Palace for the key supporters and contributors to the UAE Water Aid campaign, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and a number of officials.
