  UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in the presence of the Crown Prince of Dubai and the Chairman of the Executive Council, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, launched the Dubai Plan 2021 today. The launching ceremony was held on this occasin at the tourist beach in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), in the presence of Deputy Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum; Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Director General of Dubai Information Department His Highness Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum and a number of ministers, heads of governmental departments, authorities and organizations; senior officials and executives in the government of Dubai; members of the UAE Diplomatic Corps and local and foreign media representatives. The Plan was launched by a message Sheikh Mohammed delivered before the gathering crowd, in an innovative way of giving the go-ahead signal for the plan implementation. This innovative technique expresses the essence of the plan which is based on adopting creative and non-conventional thought. It also accentuates Dubai’s commitment to creativity in all of its initiatives, for creativity is the key to charting the nation's future with a creative thought, always based on regeneration, development and following innovative ways of work. In his message, Sheikh Mohammed said: “I address: the faithful Emirati men and women; leaders and officials; all those who bear the ambitions and determination of the founders. To all those I say that we are embarking on seven upcoming years full of great objectives, high aspirations and lots of challenges. You are always longing to occupying the first position, thus we launch today Dubai Plan 2021 to achieve a better and promising future for our people by and through you. May Allah direct and support our efforts to achieve happiness, prosperity, and decent life for our people" Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Further, H.H Crown Prince of Dubai asserted that there is nothing new for Dubai concerning the plan's ambitious objectives, stating that: ”Since the time of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed, Dubai has been used to raising the level of expectations, and Dubai Plan 2021 is just a continuation to the same approach that we are accustomed to from this young city, which can only be satisfied with excellence, superiority and leadership.” The ceremony also included a presentation of the plan general framework which includes six themes that define and describe Dubai in the year 2021: 1- City of Happy, Creative & Empowered People 2- An Inclusive & Cohesive Society 3- The Preferred Place to Live, Work & Visit 4- A Smart & Sustainable City 5- A Pivotal Hub in the Global Economy 6- A Pioneering & Excellent Government. Furthermore, the key performance indicators were outlined, as a part of the measuring system that includes more than six hundred indicators. Those indicators work integrally to follow up the plan progress and monitor the realization of its objectives by the year 2021.
