UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, inaugurated KhalifaSat satellite, the first Emirati satellite fully developed by Emirati engineers, ushering in the era of space manufacturing entirely by the UAE. KhalifaSat is set to be launched to space later this year, after finishing a series of rigorous tests. It will be the first Arab and Emirati satellite of its kind, built locally, founding a national base to manufacture satellites by Emirati engineers.

The event took place during the visit of Sheikh Mohammed to the Satellite Manufacturing and Assembly complex facility at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre.
