UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended a preliminary briefing on the phases of the Dubai Metro Museum project. The briefing, which was presented at the executive office, was also attended by the Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Deputy Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid. Sheikh Mohammed directed that the project be completed within 12 months and launched in synchronization with the commencement of Art Dubai 2015. Sheik Mohamed also gave directives for the transformation of the Dubai Metro stations into art museums displaying artwork and creations that represent Dubai’s history and culture. With more than 137 million visitors in 2013 and an average of 500,000 visitors a day, the Dubai Metro Museum Initiative aims to create an widely-reaching artistic environment that inspires creativity and innovation.
