Mohammed bin Rashid attends experimental testing of “Drones” for delivery of public services

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the experimental tests for the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), otherwise known as drones. These drones are to deliver a set of public services to be initiated in the UAE, including the delivery of official documents to customers, control of roads, follow-up on infrastructure projects, and implementation of geographical surveys, as well as other services. Impressed by the results of the initial tests, which lasted for 3 months at the hands of a group of Emirati engineers in direct collaboration with the Higher Committee for Smart Government Project, HH Sheikh Mohammed directed that the application of UAVs be expanded to cover a wider range of services and larger geographical areas throughout the UAE. During the experiments, performed in the presence of the Crown Prince of Dubai HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mohammed explained the purpose of the UAVs: "We want to reach people before they approach our government departments, shorten the distances and times, as well as increase efficiency and facilitate services."
