The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States concluded their 34th Summit this afternoon. The two-day summit was hosted at Al Bayan Palace in Kuwait. The leader of the U.A.E. delegation to the Summit, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, attended the closing session. The GCC leaders decided to establish a Gulf Academy for Strategic and Security Studies, whose headquarters will be located in the UAE. They also resolved to set up a GCC unified military command, and assigned the Joint Defense Council to take the necessary implementation measures. The final communiqué, read by Secretary General of the GCC Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, reaffirmed rejection to Iran’s continued occupation of the three UAE islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa. It emphasized support for the UAE's sovereignty over the three islands; regarding any practices carried out by Iran on the three islands null and void, as they will not alter the historical and legal facts that uphold the UAE's sovereignty over the three islands.
