In a ceremony held this morning at the Sharja Expo, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai received the first Sharjah Sporting Family Award from H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. This award is presided over by the family of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and a number of ministers and senior officials. The selection of the family of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai as the most prominent sporting family in the UAE is indicative of Al Maktoum’s pioneering role in Emirati sports. Al Maktoum’s leadership is embodied in his constant donations and support to all players and their families at different competitive stages in sports, especially at the international level. The award also reflects Al Maktoum and his sons’ role as an inspirational model for each family in the UAE.
