Majid bin Mohammed opens Holy Quran Exhibition

  H.H. Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts, formally opened the Holy Quran Exhibition from the world-renowned Farjam Collection in Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC). The Farjam Collection is one of the finest privately-owned Islamic art collections in the world today. Spanning almost the entire history of Islam, it brings together items produced throughout the vast region between Andalusia and Mughal India. Its treasures include Qur’anic manuscripts, miniatures and illustrated books on science, mathematics and poetry, as well as finely-decorated metalwork, lacquer, glasswork, tiles, glazed pottery, woodwork, textiles, coins, jewellery, carpets and art from the 13th century AH. Speaking at the ceremonial opening, H.H Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: "For centuries, the Islamic world has excelled in producing beautiful artwork that highlight our great artistic heritage. This rich heritage is still today admired by art expert across the world.” Also present at the inauguration ceremony was His Excellency Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, Governor of the DIFC and Managing Director of Dubai Culture. Dr. Sulaiman said: “The Holy Quran Exhibition displays the treasures of the Muslim world and provides a unique insight into its religious and cultural heritage. “The ongoing support and encouragement of H.H Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is the main incentive to our efforts in raising the level of awareness and understanding of all matters related to the history, civilization, culture and arts of the Islamic world."
