Majid Bin Mohammed inaugurates the Documentary Film Festival

  H.H. Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, inaugurated the Documentary Film Festival organised by the Authority in cooperation with Dubai International Film Festival which will be held between 5-8 July under the banner “Documentary Voices”.   Sheikh Majid and audiences from local, international and arab backgrounds as well as other cultural and artistic leading personalities, attended a documentary film created by the Iranian Director Kamran Sherdil titled “Dubai the Pearl of the Gulf”, which was staged in 1975 depicting the development of Dubai and its growth and prosperity during Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s era.   Sheikh Majid praised the event, which he described was a significant testimony for creative people and an opportunity provided by the Authority to discover and enhance their cultural thinking and creative abilities. He expressed his confidence that the festival marked an important step on the road of cementing and highlighting the role of historical documentaries in the UAE.   The festival hosted twenty documentary films from around the world which were aimed at familiarizing the public, especially the youth, with the importance of cinematic documentation for the benefit of present and future generations, in all fields.
