Hamdan bin Rashid and Carter Discuss Humanitarian Issues

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and U.A.E. Minister of Finance received Jimmy Carter, former US President and Chairman of Carter Foundation, and his accompanying delegation, at Zabeel Palace today. During the meeting, both sides discussed a number of humanitarian issues and the role of charitable and medical institutions and authorities in helping needy people throughout the world, particularly in the Third World. Sheikh Hamdan reviewed the agreement signed between Carter Foundation and Noor Dubai Foundation, regarding the launch of a joint campaign to treat 18 million people infected with trachoma in various regions of the Republic of Ethiopia, whose population is about 90 million. The meeting was attended by Issa Mohammed Al Maidoor, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Noor Dubai Foundation, and a number of officials from the Foundation and the Hamdan bin Rashid Medical Award.
