Hamdan bin Mohammed opens Zayed building at Sandhurst

22 November 2012

Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikhs Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has opened the “Zayed Building” at the Royal Military Academy – Sandhurst in memory of the UAE founding father, the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The UAE donated AED 880 million for the construction of the building in recognition of Sandhurst as one of the first international education institutions to accept UAE students at the early seventies of the last century. The opening of the building coincided with the 200th anniversary of Sandhurst’s current campus where Sheikh Hamdan was welcomed by Major-General Timothy Evans, the RMAS Commandment, and a group of senior teaching staff. Sheikh Hamdan then unveiled the memorial plaque of the building which has two wings of accommodation, each containing 100 rooms, administrative offices, and a library. So far, more than 210 UAE cadets have graduated from Sandhurst, the largest number of alumni from any country other than the UK.
